Bespoke

Bespoke substrate mixes

Your crop, your recipe. Choose the raw materials, structure, pH, EC and fertiliser step by step. The configurator shows straight away what your choices mean for air, water and peat status. Then you request the mix: we check the recipe, advise where needed and send you a quotation. There is no obligation.

Bespoke in three steps

  1. Build Choose your crop, raw materials, structure and fertiliser in the configurator.
  2. We check We check your recipe for feasibility and advise where needed.
  3. Production and delivery Once you accept the quotation, your mix is produced and delivered: as loose bulk, in big bags or crates, or shipped by the container.

Which crop is the substrate for?

We pre-fill a recommended structure and a pH and EC range. You can change everything.

Crop

Loads the recommended composition, structure, pH and EC for the selected crop.

2/8

How much peat is acceptable?

Less peat calls for a different approach to irrigation and feeding.

Peat content

If you choose peat-free, we replace the peat in your recipe with fine coir. You can then keep adjusting. Read more in the knowledge base.

3/8

Set the ratio

Divide 100% over up to six raw materials, in steps of 5%. Fine materials hold water, coarse materials add air. Lock a slider with the padlock.

Raw materials
peat Holds plenty of water yet stays open; naturally acidic.
peat max. 60% Water buffer and weight; finer than white peat.
Rewets quickly; stable structure.
max. 60% Open and airy; hardly settles.
max. 60% Coarse and structurally stable; slightly acidic.
max. 50% Very airy and light; needs adjusted feeding.
max. 40% Lasting extra air and drainage; inert.
max. 10% More buffering and weight; lowers the air-filled porosity slightly.

Total: 100%

With this ratio, the mix is classed as peat-based.

5/8

Which pH and EC do you want on delivery?

Choose within your crop's range. We determine the lime and fertiliser rates needed to reach it.

Usual for Bedding plants: pH 5.5-6.2

Usual for Bedding plants: EC 0.5-0.9 mS/cm

Moisture content on delivery

You do not choose lime yourself: we determine the lime rate needed to reach the target pH based on the raw materials.

6/8

What else should go in?

NPK base fertiliser 14-16-18 Rate in kg/m³. Lower for propagation, higher for vigorous crops.
Coated controlled-release fertiliser Choose the release period: 3-4, 5-6 or 8-9 months. Useful for long crops and outdoor growing.
Organic fertiliser For peat-free mixes and slower, longer-lasting nutrition.
Wetting agent Helps the substrate take up water evenly, even after drying out.

7/8

How and how much would you like delivered?

Packaging

An estimate is fine; the quotation is based on your final quantity. At least 5 m³, in steps of 1 m³.

What the configurator does for you

A recipe is more than a ratio. The configurator translates your choices straight into the properties you manage in the crop, so you are well prepared to request a mix.

  • Indicative profile

Air, water, structural stability and sustainability as a weighted average of the raw materials, corrected for structure. Sustainability is an indicative in-house estimate.

  • Warnings per crop

If the pH or EC falls outside the usual range, the structure differs or the mix becomes too dense, you see it at once.

  • A quotation for your recipe

Your enquiry reaches our team with the full recipe and profile. We check feasibility and send a quotation with final specifications.
