Quality

Quality you can verify

A substrate should behave in your crop the way you expect, batch after batch. That is why we are clear about what we measure, what is indicative and what you can request from us.

Specifications per product

Every product lists its composition by volume and indicative values for pH, EC, fraction, structure, organic matter, air and water content. pH and EC are based on the 1:1.5 volume extraction method. You can print the datasheet or save it as a PDF.

What we record per product Example: DH Pot Plant Pro 70/30
Mix bar: White peat 50%, Black peat 20%, Fine coir (coir pith) 30%.
  • White peat 50%
  • Black peat 20%
  • Fine coir (coir pith) 30%
Acidity

pH scale 4-8. This product's range: pH 5.5-6.2 4 5 6 7 8
EC

Organic matter

Indicative values. Batches may vary within normal production tolerances. A certificate of analysis for a specific batch is available on request. Datasheet

Batch checks

Production batches are checked in the laboratory for pH, EC and uniformity, among other things.

Washed and buffered coir

The coir in our products is washed and buffered with calcium and magnesium, so that sodium and potassium do not upset the nutrition.

RHP

Asking about RHP? We confirm the RHP status of each product on request.

Honest about sustainability

Peat-reduced and peat-free where possible, without pretending every alternative is better everywhere. Every raw material has pros and cons; the raw material pages explain which.

Peat status

Peat-based: more than half of the volume is peat. Peat-reduced: no more than half. Peat-free: no peat. There is no legal definition; these are the criteria we use.

Peat content by volume
  1. Peat-free 0%
  2. Peat-reduced 1-50%
  3. Peat-based over 50%

Checks and complaints

Check every delivery on arrival and measure the pH and EC of a representative sample before use. Something not right? Report it with photos and keep a sample and the unused part of the batch so we can investigate. The time limits are set out in the terms and conditions.

Certificate of analysis on request

Need certainty about a specific batch, for example for export? A certificate of analysis is available on request. We can also arrange analysis of substrate already in your crop.
